Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an alloy having a low thermal expansion coefficient in a high temp. region and improved tensile strength at ordinary temp. by composing the alloy of a respectively specified amt. of C, Ni, one or more out of Si, Mn and Cr, one or more out of Mo, Ti, V, Zr, etc. and the balance Fe.
CONSTITUTION: The title alloy is composed of C 0.05W0.5%, Ni 38W50%, one or more out of Si, Mn and Cr 1% or less, one or more out of Mo, Ti, V, Zr, Nb, Hf, Ta and W 0.2W5% and the balance Fe. Part of the Ni may be replaced with Co and/or Cu≤7%. This alloy has a tensile strength of 100kg/mm2 or more at ordinary temp. and an average thermal expansion coefficient of 10×10-6/°C or less at 200W 300°C. Accordingly, it undergoes little deformation and is stable even if used in a considerably high temp. region at a state with high load, so it is suitably applicable to parts of a precision machine, e.g., an aircraft instrument or a pollution control apparatus.
