Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled nonmagnetic amorphous alloy easy to manufacture, consisting of Ni, Si and B in a prescribed atomic ratio, and having a low electric resistance temp. coefficient, high electric resistibility and small thermoelectromotive force to copper.
CONSTITUTION: This amorphous alloy for a strain gauge material has a composition represented by the formula [where (a) is 65.5W70.1 atomic percent, (b) is 3W16 atomic percent, (c) is 13.9W31.5 atomic percent and the sum of (a), (b) and (c) is practically 100]. For example, this alloy may be Ni68.0Si15.0B17.0 or Ni67.6Si10.0 B22.4. By adding ≤7 atomic percent one or more elements among Cr, Al, Cu, Fe, V and Ti to the composition, effects such as an increase in the electric resistibility and a reduction in the thermoelectromotive force to copper are produced. The resistance temp. coefficient of this alloy is 1/20W1/180 time in comparison with a conventional ordinary strain gauge material, the electric resistibility is 1.5W3.6 times, and the thermoelectromotive force to copper is 1/2W1/90 time.
