Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the high temp. toughness and high temp. ductility of a Co alloy used as a gas turbine material, etc. by adding a restricted amt. of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, W, Mo, B, Ti, Nb, Ta, Hf, etc. to Co.
CONSTITUTION: A Co alloy consisting of, by wt., C 0.15W2%, Si≤2%, Mn≤2%, Ni 5W15%, Cr 18W35%, W and/or Mo 3W15%, B 0.003W0.1%, Ti and/or Nb 0.01W1%, Ta and/or Hf 0.01W1%, and the balance Co and inevitable impurities. Zr 0.01W1% and a rare earth element 0.01W1% may be added to the alloy. In this alloy compsn. the Ti, Nb and Zr are contained in combination with the Ta and Hf with optimum relation to the C, W, B, Cr and Ni contents, so superior high temp. strength and high temp. toughness esp. at temps. above 982°C are provided.
