Abstract

An alloy having the following percentage composition: C not more than 0.06 .Cr.10-18. .Co.0-15. .Al.5-8.(not more than 7 when ...Co is less than 10) .Ti.0-1.5. .Nb.1-3. .Mo and/or W.0.5-6. .B.0-0.05. .Zr.0-0.15. .Ni.the balance,. and further restricted in that the total Cr. W and Mo content is 15-20, is cast at a temperature at least 165 DEG C. higher than its freezing temperature. The casting, which can be a gas turbine rotor, may be heat treated by heating at 1175 DEG C. for 15 minutes to 24 hours followed by cooling to room temperature. A further heating at 928 DEG C. for 1-24 hours may be employed.
