Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a super heat-resistant alloy having a good ductility at room temperature by adding a specific small amount of Zr or Nb to Ni-Al based alloy.
CONSTITUTION: To Ni3Al based intermetallic compound, a single or both of Zr and Nb is added in total amount of 0.01W3.0%. This addition of Zr and/or Nb nearly completely eliminates γ phase matrix whose strength at high temperature is extremely weak in Ni-Al alloy. This also eliminates brittleness inherent to Ni3Al having a good high temperature strength, resulting in an enhanced room temperature workability. Thus, the material is very suited to structure material that is subject to a high temperature for a long period of time, such as gas turbine blade, jet engine, and missile.
