Abstract

1,206,843. Building panels. D. SPEED-ANDREWS. 22 July, 1968, No. 34975/68. Heading E1B. A storey-high building panel comprises two jambs 1, a head member 2 and a lintel comprising upper and lower horizontal members 11 and 12 interconnected by struts 13, and 14, the lower member 12 is spaced slightly from the head member 2, and facing sheets 15, 16 fixed to the lintel project over the head member but are not fixed thereto. A frame 4 of a window 5 is mounted between the head member and a further cross member 3. Two vertical studs 6, 7 and facing sheets 8 and 9 complete the panel. The spaces between opposed facing sheets are filled with fibreglass, glasswool or expanded plastics insulating material 10, 18. The sheets 15, 16 project beyond upper member 12 to define a groove in which a fixing member 17 which extends across several panels is fixed. In a modification the parts of the panel below the head member other than the jambs 1 are replaced by a door.
