Abstract

1400273 Curtain walls R J DIETRICH 4 June 1972 [4 June 1971] 24273/72 Heading E1W A curtain facade for a building comprises a supporting structure made up of supporting sections for attachment to the exterior of the building, facade panels 19 to be held to the said structure, sealing means (17) to be interposed between the panels and the structure and a plurality of fastening means 22 adapted to hold the panels to the structure. The extruded metal sections may consist of uprights 1, 3 and transoms 5 and be slotted as at 9 to accommodate attachment bolts, the sections being interconnected by angle pieces 4. The sealing means may consist of sponge rubber or polyvinyl chloride and the panels of asbestos cement, glass or plastics. Facade panels 19 and window frames 21 are disposed in a frame 2 whilst other facade panels 30 bridge the gap between two adjacent frames. For minor details of joints, cross-sections of frames, sealing strips, attachment to the building &c the Specification and remaining drawings (not shown), should be referred to.
