Abstract

915,433. Partitions; glazing; doors. TROLLOPE & COLLS Ltd. June 15, 1961 [June 15, 1960], No. 21079/60. Classes 20 (3) and 20 (4). An acoustically-insulating, demountable partition comprises two frames 9, 9a, Fig. 2, registering with one another, each frame having a panel 15 covering its outer face, the two frames being mounted together to move as a unit with acoustically-insulating material, as specified felt strips 10, sandwiched therebetween and the panels having a filling 18 of acoustically-insulating material between them, the partition being carried by at least one post 5 formed in two halves mounted together with a longitudinally-extending strip of acoustically-insulating material sandwiched between them. The two frames 9, 9a and the two halves of the posts are mounted together by bolts 14 co-operating with sleeves and washers of resilient material. The posts have projections 8 engaging recesses in the upright side members of the frames. Felt 11 is provided between a wall 7 and a partition post 6 backing thereon. The panels comprise layers of hardboard 15, expanded polystyrene 16 and plaster board 17. The bottom horizontal members of the frames may be formed with grooved faces for receiving cables or other services. The posts 5 are jammed between ceiling and floor fillets 21, 26, Fig. 7, by jacks 28, with interposed felt layers 22, 29 and 29a. A cover fillet 20 insulated from the ceiling fillet by felt 22, and a skirting 25, insulated from the floor by felt 30 are provided. A double glazed window is formed by unparallel glass panes 31, Fig. 6, mounted in rubber channels 32 positioned between fillets 33 and fibrous acoustic tiles 34. A door 4, Fig. 3, is hung from a side frame member 35 and closes against a stop 36 and interposed velour sealing-strip 37. The door comprises framed panels having a blockboard core 38 sandwiched between panels 39 of asbestos faced with plywood 40, and a double unparallel plate-glass window 41.
