Abstract

Also in Groups X and XXV] In a folding panel-type door of the kind comprising a controlling framework including pickets 10, Fig. 1, connected together by a lazy tongs system of lattice bars 11, 12, guide rails for the pickets and panels hinged together alternatively at and away from the pickets 10, the hinges comprise complementary strips having respectively cylindrical rod and socket formations, each socket having a C-shaped wall such as 24, Fig. 4, sub-tending an inner angle just greater than 180 degrees and the rod 19, Fig. 2, being formed at the edge of a web 20 of arcuate cross section. As shown each panel has a pair of facing sheets 14 enclosing insulating filling such as glass wool. The edge upright has a base 16, channel sides 17 rebated at 18 to receive the sheets 14, and carry the rod 19 and web 20 so as to form an arcuate space 21. The C-shaped walls 24 are integral with a well base 25 secured to a picket 10. In other forms the C-shaped walls 23 are integral with a curved base 22 or a single C-shaped part 26 is integral with a well base 27 and upstanding web 28. In a modification the extruded section of Fig. 2, is made with the channel base separate from, but attachable to, the hinging portion.
