Abstract

1,121,666. Exhaust silencers. TATRA NARODNI PODNIK. Nov. 26, 1965 [Nov. 27, 1964], No. 50319/65. Heading F1B. An exhaust silencer comprising a casing 17 with two separate inlet compartments 18, 19, connected by pipes 22, 23, of equal length to a collecting chamber 20 which is connected through pipe 25 to a silencing chamber 24. Exhaust pipes from successively firing cylinders of a bank of cylinders lead into different ones of the chambers 18, 19 e.g. in a bank of four cylinders with firing only 1, 2, 4, 3, cylinders 1 and 4 are connected to chamber 18 and cylinders 2 and 3 to chamber 19. In a V-8 engine Fig. 1 each bank of cylinders has a separate silencer 17 associated therewith.
