Abstract

995,528. Exhaust silencing arrangements. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. March 13, 1964 [March 15, 1963], No. 10751/64. Heading F1B. Exhaust manifolds 1, 2, associated with cylinder groups of a multicylinder engine and leading to one or more silencers 4, 5, are interconnected at 3 through a small pressure equalizing chamber 6 into which the pipes 1, 2, open through perforations 8, 9. The chamber 6 is formed by plates 6, 7, welded to the pipes 1, 2. In a modification the chamber 6 may be preformed and fitted between the pipes or may be formed with the pipe portions 1 as a separate section for connection between sections of the manifold pipes.
