Abstract
1,181,639. Pipe joints. DAIMLER BENZ A.G. 19 April, 1968 [21 April, 1967], No.18558/68. Heading F2G. [Also in Division F1] An exhaust pipe with two separate flow passages 64, 66 leading to an exhaust driven supercharger is built up of sections 34 ... 38 each having an elbow 26 . . . 30. Each section, with its elbow, is composed of two half shells connected together along the line 40 and includes a partition 44 forming the passages 64, 66. In one section the partition is bent at 50 and secured to the elbow at 54 to direct the gases from the elbow into passage 64 whilst in an adjacent section the partition is bent in the opposite direction to direct the gases into passage 66. Partitions of adjacent sections are interconnected by elements 88 carried by sleeves 82 fitting in the flanged ends of the sections. The pipe section 32 of the end cylinder 10 may be partitioned or, as shown in Fig. 2, may be undivided and of smaller diameter than section 34. The end of the partition 42 of the adjacent section is turned down at 72 to direct the gas from section 32 into one of the passages 64, 66.
