Class 7(ii) Separate ducts for the exhausts of groups of cylinders are formed by. a core element slidable axially within a casing 1 provided with branches 2-9 to which individual cylinders are connected. The core may comprise partitions 15-18 that are helically twisted between the branches 6-9. Expansion joints 12 may be provided along the casing which may be covered with insulating material 20 protected by a metal sheath 21. In modification(a), the core comprises closed ducts to pre- .vent the gases con- .tacting the casing .between which and the core are formed air cavities, and (b) the casing has a double wall providing a space for a cooling medium.
