Abstract

1,112,409. Revolving cylinder engines. A.C. MERCER. March 3, 1965 [Dec.5, 1963], No.48037/63. Heading F1B. Each cylinder of a revolving cylinder engine is provided with a precombustion chamber 13 provided with an igniter 14 and connected at 15 to the associated cylinder and through passage 16 to a mixture supply port 23 in a stationary shaft 10 around which the cylinder block 11 revolves. The shaft 10 comprises a mixture supply chamber 20 separated by partition 19 from an exhaust chamber 21. The cylinder admission ports 24 cooperate with main supply ports 22 in the shaft 10, the ports 23 being angularly in advance of ports 22 so that the chambers 13 are scavenged by fresh mixture before the main ports 22 open. Exhaust gases flow through passage 30 around the chambers 13 to exhaust ports 32 in the shaft 10. The shaft 10 may be angularly adjustable.
