679,940. Exhaust-silencers. SUCKLING, C. March 30, 1951 [March 30, 1950], No. 8049/50. Class 7(ii) A chamber 8 for dissipating wave pulses and a sound-deadening chamber 6 are each lined with asbestos and connected by an unlined tube, the internal capacity of the chamber 6 being not less than that of the engine cylinder or cylinders and the crosssectional area of any part of the silencer being not less than that of the or any one of the exhaust outlets from the cylinder or cylinders. The linings may be split and secured in place by rivets or helical wires.
