Abstract

1,120,608. Land-mines. INDUSTRIE WERKE KARLSRUHE A.G. 19 May, 1966 [19 June, 1965], No. 22238/66. Addition to 1,005,388. Heading F3A. A land-mine of the type described in parent Specification 1,005,388, wherein the arming member is formed from a screw cap 10a, Fig. 1, and a longitudinally displaceable slider member 10b on which acts a coiled pressure spring 10c, covered by a sealing diaphragm 10e, which is held under stress by a safety pin lOd. The arming member is flush with the surface of the pressure cover 3 and a diaphragm sealing element 5a is provided between the outer resilient ring body 5 and the mine casing 1. Lateral displacement of pressure cover 3, as the mine strikes the ground, is prevented by the raised edge la, which is strengthened with a ring 1b. On withdrawing the safety pin 10d the slider member 10b moves downwardly, under the action of spring 10c, to a stop 10g where it is retained by a spring ring 10h catching into a groove 10i Meanwhile the pressure ball 11a, Fig. 3, is trapped in the recess 10f and is moved downwardly through a definite amount in conjunction with slider sleeve 11. The motion is transmitted to striker pin 13 through the partly cylindrical locking elements 14. The clookwork mechanism 18 then rotates sleeves 19 and 23 and locking balls 25a enter the recesses (23b), Fig. 4 (not shown), in sleeve 23. Sleeve 26 is thus released and moves downwards under the action of spring 16 to produce a recess between the lower and upper edges of shoulder 44 and sleeve 23 respectively. The mine is now armed and the locking elements 14 are adapted to be displaced and slide into the recesses 43/44 to free the pin on application of further pressure to ball 11a. Undesired detonation is prevented by a safety pin 39. The clockwork fuse 18 may again be loaded by rotating the shaft 19 by means of a coin inserted in a slot 14. Protection against removal of the detonator by unscrewing cover 10e is provided by removing screws 45 to free a slider ring 43. If the cover is now removed, spring 16 lifts the sleeve 46 and a rubber ring 47 lifts the slider ring 43 away from the collar 44. The cylinder 14, lifted from the collar 44, then expands into the gap 43/44 to free the striker pin and detonate the mine. A screw cover 1d of synthetic material having a m.p.of, for example, 120‹ C. which is below the detonation point of the explosive filling the mine is fitted to the bottom of the mine.
