Abstract

926,680. Firing devices for land mines. H. KLOSTERMANN, [trading as R. RINKER [Firm of]]. Aug. 12, 1960 [Nov. 24, 1959], No. 27979/60. Classes 9 (1) and 9 (2). A detonator for land mines has a casing 6, which may be of metal or a heat-resistant synthetic material and houses a striker 1 stressed by a spring 5. The striker is held away from a percussion cap 14 by a pin 2 passing through its head and an endless spring element 10, which has a waisted portion snapped into a groove in the striker and resting against a sealing cap 4 on the casing 6. Washers are placed above the striker spring 5 to prevent ingress of dirt and moisture. A nipple 8 extending into the casing carries the detonator charge and delay means and is closed by a cap 9. When a milled nut on the end of the safety pin 2 is removed, the pin can be withdrawn, the striker then being held in the cocked position by the stirrup 10. If a pull is applied to the stirrup on either side, the waisted portion ceases to support the striker, which is then driven by its spring against the cap 14. The striker may also be operated by direct pressure applied to its head.
