Abstract
765,026. Land mines. SORLINI, R. March 10, 1955, No. 7063/55. Addition to 693,810. Class 9 (2). The mine claimed in the parent Specification having a truncated conical body 1 is provided with a bush 7 fitted in a central bore in the base and housing a detonator 8 aligned with a striker 25 carried by a cap 15 housed in the mine cover 2. The body 1 is closed by a nose piece 6 which holds the bush 7 in place and forms a housing for an impermeable container 11 depending from the bush. Within the container is an auxiliary charge 12 in contact with a delay action fuze 14 mounted in the bush and leading to a detonator 36. A conical head 32' as in Specification 693,479 may be attached to the nose piece 6. Extending from a bore 20 in the cap 15 is the head 22 of the striker 25 held in the safety position by a transverse pin 27 passing through the head 22. Before placing the mine in the ground, the pin 27 is removed a transverse. pin 32 in engage- .ment with a groove 23 being provided to hold the striker in the armed position. When a given pressure is applied to the head 22, the locking pin 32 is thrust outwardly releasing the striker, which is then driven by its spring 29 against the detonator 8. The detonator 8 ignites the charge 12 which in turn ignites the delay fuze 14 to ignite the detonator 36 and thence the main charge 3. The charge 12 projects the mine out of the ground, so that the main explosion takes place above ground. The striker may also be released by a pull on a wire 34 attached to the pin 32.
