Abstract

1,165,754. Fuzes. BOMBRINI PARODIDELFINO S.p.A. 28 Sept., 1966 [25 Oct., 1965], No. 43260/68. Heading F3A. Fuze for rockets comprising a striker pin 3, a guide tube 12 prevented from forward movement under the action of a spring 14 by balls 13, a sleeve 11 biased forwardly by a spring 9, a ring 7 biased forwardly by a spring 8 and containing balls 10, a detonator 6, and a rotor 15 containing a primer 5 which is held out of alignment with the striker pin and detonator by engagement of the lower end of the guide tube 12 in a recess in the rotor. On launching a rocket fitted with the fuze the ring 7 sets back so that the balls 10 can move outwardly thereby freeing the sleeve 11 for rearward movement, which movement permits the striker guide tube to move rearwardly so that the spheres 13 can move outwardly to permit forward movement of the striker guide tube on cessation of the acceleration. As the end of the guide tube is withdrawn from the rotor, the rotor is swung to an armed position in which the primer 5 is aligned with the striker pin and detonator. Balls 2 transmit impact energy to the striker pin. A percussion primer may be used to ignite the primer 5.
