Abstract
807,053. Land mines. BOFORS, A. B. Oct. 16, 1957 [Dec. 11, 1956], No. 37824/56. Class 9(2) A land mine having a casing 1 moulded from explosive reinforced with glass fibres as in Specification 787,832 contains a moulded charge 2 and a primary charge 3, preferably of pressed explosive, above which is an igniter screwed into a socket 4. A handle and means (not shown) for attaching camouflage may be provided. The igniter comprises a hollow body 6 of resilient material enclosing a rigid shaft 7 having a spherical end surface 9, the outer part of the body 6 being housed in a member 10 having radial arms 11 and the inner part of the body being rigidly connected to a hollow threaded plug 12. The plug is closed by a member 15 housing a plate 13 having a convex surface abutting the surface 9 and a depending flange restin gon a conical element 16 of spring material. A firing pin 17 projects axially downwards from the element 16 and is aligned with a primer 18 housed in the member 15, so that on pressure being applied to one of the arms 11 the force is transmitted through the shaft 7 to the plate 13, which is crushed and snaps the element 16 from the rest position to drive the pin 17 against the primer 18 and fire the mine.
