Abstract

A rifle grenade comprises a spherical steel body 2, a tail rod 3 connected thereto by a screw 8, a tubular nipple 11 carrying a circular plate 1a of the same diameter as the body, a ballistic cap 1 enclosing a fuse assembly 13 disposed on the plate, and a casing 10 having a cylindrical part supported against the plate 1a and the body 2, to form a closed peripheral space, and a frustoconical part extending to the tail rod. A booster 5 is disposed in a cake of explosive 6 in contact with the principal explosive 7. A plug 12 keeps the fuze assembly safe until the grenade is launched, whereupon it falls into the peripheral space to release the fuze.
