Abstract

1,085,045. Projectiles. FORSVARETS FABRIKSVERK. Feb. 7, 1966, No. 5328/66. Heading F3A. A projectile or aerial bomb. Fig. 2 (not shown), in which a number of spherical or cylindrical sub-projectiles 8 or 9 having a density of at least 13 kg. per cubic decimeter occupy at most the rear two-thirds of a smooth bore or rifled firing tube 7 and are separated from a propellant charge 3 by a propelling disc 11. The disc abuts a perforated support 14 and in a recess houses a tracer composition 15. A fuze 1 is connected to the propellant charge through a flash tube 2. The projectile is stream-lined with a light material 6. The firing tube 7 may be slightly conical in either direction and has a calibre at least 0À4 times the calibre of the projectile and a length at least two times its own calibre. The sub-projectiles are rotated due to the rotation of the mother projectile through a driving band 12 or when the firing tube is rifled by rotation of the propelling disc.
