Abstract

1452863 Parachute flares BOFORS AB 18 Jan 1974 [19 Jan 1973] 02587/74 Heading F3A A parachute flare which can be fired or dropped from a rocket, projectile or bomb comprises a plurality of end-burning prismatic flare bodies 2 and 3 which spread outwardly through an angle α upon separation of a casing 1. The casing 1 is separated from the flare by an explosive charge 6. The flare bodies are motivated by the tension in lines 30, 31 attached to the parachute (not shown) and are arrested by stops 26a, 25a. In other embodiments, the flare bodies are motivated by springs.
