Abstract

1,176,141. Anti-tank mines. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 5 Feb., 1965 [4 April, 1964], No. 5218/65. Heading F3A. An anti-tank mine comprises a housing 1, made for example of cross-linked polyethylene, a pressure actuating cover 10, an explosive charge 4, and an igniting device 41, and is provided with a central opening in the housing for the insertion of igniting components made up of interchangeable units held in releasable connection with one another and with the pressure cover. The cover 10 is pivotally mounted in a recess 12 and held on the housing by a rubber cap 11. Base closure screw 7 is formed as a container for a transfer charge 32. Between the closure 7 and the fuze-carrying disc 40, a ring 38 (Fig. 2, not shown) is arranged having fine teeth at its lower face and coarse teeth at its upper face, so that the mine is detonated when the closure 7 is unscrewed. The detonator 41, 42 is attached to disc 40 which can slide in guideway 6 but is prevented from turning by projections 52 engaging with recesses 44. Fuzeactuating pin 53 is mounted on cover 49 of housing insert 9 which also slides in guideway 6 against the action of spring 54 and is prevented from turning. Pin 53 may be replaced by a pin which may be moved from a higher to lower position by means of an arming device comprising knob 62 and member 59, or by means of a timing or remote control mechanism, so as to allow laying the mine by mechanical means or by dropping from a helicopter. Explosive is introduced into the mine through hole 23. A side fuze may be arranged in a similar hole spaced from the hole 23.
