Abstract
1,145,079. Smoke markers. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ARMY, SECRETARY OF. 21 June, 1966 [21 June, 1965], No. 27610/66. Heading F3A. A smoke marker comprises a number of smoke grenades 7, 8, 9 arranged end-to-end, each grenade having a casing closed at opposite ends by lids. The lids 11, 13, 15 contain each a primer charge 17 for igniting the main charge 10 and along with lids 20 have holes whereby the smoke can travel to the exit when lid 11 is blown off. The first primer is ignited by a triggering device (not shown) fixed to a nipple 21. The grenades are connected by adhesive sealing tape 23 and provided with asbestos insulation 24 to prevent premature ignition and reduce the burning rate. This assembly is placed in a container (2), Fig. 2 (not shown), which has a tube (25) for a lowering parachute. The container (2) has a closure (3) at the smoke exit end with exit holes (5, 6).
