Abstract
1320969 Missiles HUGHES AIRCRAFT CO 17 Nov 1970 [23 March 1970] 54613/70 Heading F3A A missile comprises a window 18 through which radiation can pass to a detector, and a protective nose cover 10 which is shattered by means. 28, in response to a control signal, to expose the window. The cover is made. of stressed glass, ceramics or polymeric materials and is externally coated with a material for preventing the build up of electrostatic charges. The fragmenting means comprises a pointed piston propelled by electrical, mechanical or fluid means or by the electrical ignition of a pyrotechnic charge.
