Abstract
1,262,165. Hollow charge missiles. MESSERSCHMITT - BOLKOW - BLOHM G.m.b.H. 9 June, 1969 [14 June, 1968], No. 29174/69. Heading F3A. A hollow charge missile, e.g., a rocket, comprises a hollow charge 8 symmetrical about the longitudinal axis of the missile, charge detonator means (not shown) disposed rearwardly of the charge, and a detonation wave guiding means symmetrical about the said axis and comprising at least two contiguous portions 11 and 12 of non-explosive material, e.g., silicone rubber, the adjacent surfaces of which extend normal to said axis. The surfaces are prevented from abutting tightly against one another by raised rings 18. The detonation wave is transmitted from the charge detonation means via a "pointed trans- mitter" consisting of an explosive charge 13 and an explosive charge 15 having a much lower detonation speed. The charge detonation means is constituted by an electrical detonator, the firing circuit of which is completed when the two walls 1 and 2 of a cap are brought into contact upon impact of the projectile with its target. Wires from the cap lead to terminals 21 and 22 through a tube 23. A bore 26 enables hardenable compounds to be poured into the missile.
