A practice projectile has a casing 2 of synthetic plastics and containing compressed metal powder 1 surrounding an ignition tube 6. Tube 6 houses a percussion fuze and extends from a smoke marker charge 4 to an explosive charge, which disrupts the casing on impact with a target. Tube 6 may be omitted and both charges 3, 4 be arranged in the nose of the projectile.
