Abstract

578,995. Projectiles ; torpedoes. WHITE, A. G., and'IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 27, 1942, No. 2575. [Classes 9 (i) and 9 (ii)] A bomb, grenade or torpedo having an H.E. charge 17 with an effectaugmenting concavity C in the leading end thereof, as described in Specification 28030/11, [Class 9 (i)], has the concavity lined with a metal lining 3, a nose-fuze 7, and an axial tube 11 containing a length of detonating fuze 12 leading to primer pellets 14, 15 in rear of the bottom of the concavity. The detonating fuze may be a textile one filled with pentaerythritol tetranitrate, and the pellets may comprise the same explosive, or tetryl, or guncotton. The nose-fuze may comprise a hard metal impact point 6 combined with a striker 19 against which the momentum pellet 7 impinges on impact. The pellet 14 rests upon a rubber base 16.
