Abstract
1,227,891. Combined projectile and firing device; grenade launcher. ARAMA S.A. 10 April, 1969 [11 April, 1968], No. 18528/69. Headings F3A and F3C. A ballistic assembly composed of a projectile 1, Fig. 1, e.g. a grenade, and its firing device, comprises a tube 11 accommodated detachably in the body of the projectile, a piston 13 hermetically sealing a propulsion charge 12 in the tube, a push-rod 14 for propelling the projectile, a launching stand 4 including electrical conducting means 33, 30, 27, and a projectile guiding device 10 including electrical conducting means 25, 24, 21 for conveying current to an electrical igniter 18, the piston 13 offering an initial resistance to movement upon ignition of the charge 12 which is limited in time such that the propellant gas pressure builds up beyond a level corresponding to the elastic limit of the tube 11 but is relieved by movement of the piston before deformation of the tube 11 occurs. The stroke of the piston is adjusted by means of a threaded ring 15. The launching stand accommodates a battery 46, Fig. 2, which is brought into the firing circuit to launch the projectile by depressing a release button 53 and sliding a sleeve 38 along the launching stand.
