Abstract

112,015. Soc. Anon. pour l'Exploitation des Brevets Schoedelin. Dec. 5, 1916, [Convention date]. Friction gearing.-Relates to epicyclic or non- epicyclic speed reducing or multiplying friction gearing. Conical rollers 12, 12a, carried on inclined bearings 13, 13a on bolts 6 secured to a plate 5 turning with a shaft 2, gear with conical drums 15, 15<a> and with the centres 19, 19a of rollers of which the ends 18, 18a gear with cones 7, 7a, one fast on a shaft 1 and the other adjusted thereon by a nut 8 and a spiked washer 9. The drums 15, 15a engage adjustable bolts 16 in a stationary casing 3, and springs 14 on the bolts 6 maintain the bearings 13, 13a in correct relation. A pulley 10 on the shaft 1 is held in position by a nut 11, which also serves as a lock-nut for the nut 8. Either shaft may form the driving-element. When the shaft 1 drives, the plate 5 may be held stationary and the casing 3 may form the driven element. Wear may be compensated for or the parts may be disconnected by adjustment of the bolts 16 or of the cones 7, 7a. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following matter. In a modification, Fig. 4 (cancelled), disconnexion is obtained by bringing together a collar 22 secured to the shaft 1 and a collar 23 bearing on a spring 21, a spring 24 ensuring separation of the cones 7, 7<a>. The gearing may be oppositely inclined, in which case the drums 15, 15a may be adjusted by hook-headed bolts. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
