Abstract
1,106,255. Winding bobbins. G. SAHM. 15 June, 1965 [16 June, 1964], No. 25149/65. Heading D1J. A winding machine in which the spindle 9 of bobbin 51 is driven has the holder of the traverse means 13 adjustable so that the direction of reciprocation of the traverse guide may be adjusted for different angles of taper of different bobbins. As described there is either a thrust roller 82 or a contracting thread guide and the roller or guide is arranged to be in axial line contact with the package being wound at the mean package diameter, and thus is in contact with only the smaller end of the package at smaller diameters and the large end at larger diameters. The traverse means are mounted on a ball head 53 and reciprocated by shaft 77 through universal joints. Spindle 9 is mounted on arm 7 pivotally mounted on tube 15 so that spindle 9 will swing away from traverse means 13 as the package grows. Weight 47 provides constant bobbin pressure. Spindle 9 is driven from shaft 77 via shaft 101 rotatably mounted in tube 15. Thrust roller 82 is eccentrically mounted in bearings on means 13 so as to be adjustable thereto.
