Abstract

1405831 Spinning WIELAND-WERKE AG 5 April 1973 [12 April 1972] 16423/73 Heading B3J Cylindrical tubes 1 are given a regular or irregular tapering form in a machine in which they are rotated and supported internally by a spring-pressed mandrel 7 while being pressed externally against the mandrel by opposed tools 2. A carriage 5 supports the tools 2 for transverse movement on rollers 4 and also carries the mandrel which is biased by a spring 9 towards the tool-nip. The tube is formed by controlling tool-feed, as by a template (not shown), and traversing the carriage along the rotating tube. The mandrel may also rotate.
