Abstract

1,010,755. Winding roller-driven crosswound bobbins. ALGEMENE KUNSTZYDE UNIE, N. V. March 4, 1964 [March 7, 1963], No. 9094/64 Heading D1J. The invention relates to winding machine in which a package 3 Fig. 1 is in contact with a driving drum 1 and in which the thread is traversed by a grooved traverse drum 5. The object of the invention is to rotate the traverse drum 5 at a speed that is not in constant relationship with that of the drive drum 1 and in which the traverse drum 5 derives its rotation directly from the driving drum 1 without relying on frictional forces between the package 3 and the drum 1. In Figs 1 and 2 the package 3 is mounted on an arm 8 that swings about the axis 6 of the traverse drum 5 as the package 3 increases in diameter. Mounted freely on the shaft 4, of the package 3, is a pulley 9 bearing against the side of the drive drum 1 on the line where it engages the package 3. As the package 3 increases in diameter the shaft 4 moves away from the driving drum 1 and the resulting increase in the radial setting of the drive point on the pulley 9 slows down the speed of rotation fo the pulley 9. The pulley 9 has a hollow hub having teeth 11 that engage a timing belt driving a pulley 13 coupled to the traverse drum 5. Fig. 4 shows a cross-section through a pulley 9, the hollow-hub 10 containing a weight 18 that is axially displaceable but not rotatable therein. Threaded in the weight 18 is a screw threaded member 9 coupled by a universal joint to the shaft 4. The bearing 16 is designed to permit the pulley 9 to tilt with respect to the shaft 4 of the package 3. If the speed of the shaft 4 varies, from that of the pulley 9, the weight 18 will be displaced on the screw-threaded end 19 and as a result the reaction of the weight 18 acting on the screw threaded end 19 varies the preasure of the pulley 9 on the driving roller 1. As the pressure increases the pulley will move readily adapt the speed of the driving roller In Fig. 5 the pulley 24 is driven by contact with a pulley 22 universally mounted on the shaft 2 of the driving roller 1. The pulley 24 is rotatable on an eccentric brushing 26 which may turn on the spindle 4. Bevel toothed rings 27, 28, 29 and 30 are attached, respectively to the pulley 24, to the spindle 4, and to an intermediate wheel mounted rotatably on said spindle. The toothed rings 27 and 29 are inter-coupled by a planetary wheel 32, the shaft of which is attached to the eccentric brushing 26. The toothed rings 28 and 30 are interconnected by a wheel 31 attached to the machine frame. If a difference in speed occurs between the pulley 24 and the spindle 4, the brushing 26 will turn at a speed which is equal to half the difference in speed between the pulley 24 and the spindle 4. If the brushing 26 so turns that the distance between the pulley spindle and the driving shaft 2 increases, then the rotation of the pulley 24 is retarded.
