[Class 120 (ii)] A cop &c. winding machine of the kind in which the building of the cop is controlled by the progressive advancement of a reciprocating thread guide whose movement is related to the rotation of the spindle on which the cop is being wound and in which the thread guide is advanced by a follower on a screwed traverse bar rotated through a positive geared connection to the spindle drive, is characterized in that the screw thread with which the follower co-operates has a progressively varying pitch, which may be 5 threads per inch at the starting end to 75 threads per inch at the finishing end. The actual pitch change may be calculated to suit the taper of the cop tubes used so that the cops wound are cylindrical or "parallel."
