Abstract

1,256,302. Traverse mechanism. K. HIRSCHBURGER. 4 Feb., 1969 [7 Feb., 1968], No. 5978/69. Heading D1J. A yarn traverse means for a yarn winding machine comprises an endless member supported on two guide shafts which are spaced apart on a line parallel or substantially parallel to the bobbin winding axis, the endless member being arranged to travel unidirectionally around the guide shafts in a plane parallel to the path of the yarn guide and thereby displace the yarn guide in a reciprocatory path substantially parallel to said line. The yarn guide may be in the form of a cylindrical pin pivotally mounted in, or in means carried by, the endless member. Alternatively the yarn guide may be a slide driven by the endless member. In Fig. 1 the pin 23 passes through a sleeve vulcanised into an endless belt 22, the pin 23 having in its upper end face a groove in which the yarn 25 being wound lies. The belt 27 passes around spaced guide shafts 20, 21 one of which is driven. The belt 27 is mounted in a plate 14 that is pivotally mounted about an axis parallel to a side face of the take up bobbin 13, the plate 14 carrying a roller 18 bearing against the bobbin surface. In Fig. 5 (not shown) the endless member (41) is in the form of a helical spring so that the distance between the spaced guide shafts (42, 43) can be varied to change the traverse length. In Fig. 5 the guide shafts (42, 43) are mounted in blocks (54, 55) carried by a threaded spindle (56) having threads of opposite pitch.
