Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A thread traversing mechanism for skein reeling machines has a crank driven thread guide rail 9, the crank 11 being rigid with an elliptical toothed wheel 13 meshing with a circular eccentrically mounted toothed drive wheel 14, the eccentricity of the wheel 14 being such that the wheels 13, 14 are in constant mesh. The arrangement is designed to give a substantially constant speed of traverse. The crank 11 is aligned with the major axis of the elliptical toothed wheel 13 and the pivot coupling the crank pin to the slide 15 of a crank guide 12 is axially displaceable along the crank to vary the radius of the path of the crank pin and the stroke length of the traverse guide rail 9.
