Abstract

1,100,254. Traversing yarns. BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. 22 Jan., 1965 [25 Jan., 1964], No. 2946/65. Heading D1J. A yarn traversing mechanism comprises oppositely movable thread guide elements arranged to act alternately on a yarn, the guide elements being carried by two runs of an endless conveyor band or bands movable side by side in opposite directions between the thread reversing points, the guide elements being movable rectilinearly or substantially rectilinearly within their traverse region. In one embodiment, Fig. 4, a single conveyor band 19 is arranged over discs 20 to 23 as shown. The thread is conveyed from right to left by the guide element 13' and on meeting guide element 11' it is conveyed from left to right, and so on. In Fig. 8 the discs 20, 21 are larger than the discs 22, 23, the discs 20, 21 having a first endless conveyor 1 therearound and the discs 22, 23 having a second endless conveyor therearound. One conveyor has guide elements 11' and the other conveyor has guide elements 13'. Instead of having one conveyor within the other they may be arranged one below the other or in side-by-side arrangement. The guide elements 11', 13' may have suitable cam surfaces to facilitate the transfer of thread from one to the other or they may be pivotally mounted on the conveyor belts to facilitate such transfer. Several other embodiments are described.
