Abstract

1,161,702. Traverse. MASCHINENFABRIK MEMMINGEN K.G., ING. THEODOR OTTO. 3 March, 1967 [30 March, 1966], No. 10096/67. Heading D1J. A slit drum traverse bobbin winder comprises a .rotatable two-part cylindrical casing 8, 31 surrounding the bobbin and disposed with its axis parallel to the bobbin axes. The edges of the casing parts define a yarn-guiding slot 34. There is also a sensing roller (52) mounted to be movable into contact with the bobbin, see Fig. 2 not shown. In operation, the sensing roller 52 rests against the yarn being wound on the bobbin and urges the slit drum away from the bobbin as the size of the latter increases. The axial spacing between the two casing parts can be varied for use with different yarn thicknesses. The drive mechanism interconnecting the two casing parts may comprise two gear boxes 7 and 28 having a splined connection, see Figs. 4 and 5 not shown. The bobbin and casing drives can be interconnected by an infinitely variable drive mechanism 14, 36, 37.
