Abstract

1393324 Maintaining constant yarn length between a stationary and moving guide N SCHLUMBERGER & CIE 18 Sept 1973 [6 Oct 1972] 43633/73 Heading D1J A device that compensates for the variation in distance travelled by a yarn between a stationary guide 1 and a traverse guide 2 comprises a compensation guide 25 on an arm 27 pivoting about an axis 28 normal to the axis of the package being wound and passing through the stationary guide 1, and a belt drive 33, 37, 48, 49, 52 connecting the compensation guide 25 to the traverse guide 2, the whole being so arranged that the arm 27 swings in a manner ensuring that the distance between the compensation guide 25 and the traverse guide 2 remains substantially constant. In Fig. 1 a plurality of traverse guides 2, 2A are mounted on a rod 8 that is reciprocated by a pair of eccentric gear wheels 12, 13, gear wheel 13 having an elongated slot 17 in which the axis of a crank-knob 16 can slide. Crank-knob 16 rolls in a vertical channel 19 that is connected at 21 to the rod 8 such that rotation of the gear wheel 12 causes reciprocation of the rod 8. Belts 52, 48, 49, 37, 33 cause reciprocation of the rod 8 to be transformed into oscillations of the arms 25, 25A, these oscillations following the reciprocation of the guides 2, 2A. The apparatus includes cam elements 43, 44 that are interconnected by crossed belts 48, 49.
