Abstract

1,152,751. Yarn traversing mechanism. JAMES MACKIE & SONS. Ltd. 30 Aug., 1966 [1 July, 1965], No. 28014/65. Heading D1J. A yarn traversing mechanism of the kind in which the yarn 24 is engaged by an arm 18 mounted on a pin 12 of a follower 10 sliding in a groove 8 of a scroll 2, is characterized in that the guide arm 18 is supported adjacent the follower 10 by at least two guide surfaces at least one of which is rotatable. As shown one guide surface is a guide rod 30 passing through the arm 18, and the other guide surface is the periphery of the scroll 2 engaged by feelers 32, 34 on the arm 18. The scroll 2 is in a housing 6 containing oil 36 into which the scroll 2 dips so that its surface is lubricated. The yarn passes over a roller 28 engaging the yarn package 26.
