Abstract
1288008 Thread guides; yarn heating ZINSER TEXTILMASCHINEN GmbH 17 Sept 1970 [19 Sept 1969] 44489/70 Headings DID and D1F In e.g. a draw twisting machine thread is guided by a grooved roller 3 which reciprocates in the direction of the arrow A. The thread then passes about an upper roller 5 driven frictionally by a lower roller 7. The roller 5 is mounted on an arm 20. The roller 7 constitutes a first guide element from which the thread passes to a second guide element, which may be the surface 23 of a heating plate 9, which is mounted at approximately 90‹ to the first guide element looking in the direction of thread travel. Intermediate the guide elements is a guide piece 16 which may comprise a fixed rod or a roller and is mounted at some angle (preferably between 30‹ and 60‹) to the first guide element, see Figs. 3 and 4 not shown. With this arrangement the reciprocation of the thread in the direction of arrow A produces a proportional reciprocation across the second guide element in the direction of the arrow B, Fig. 1 (not shown), hence preventing local wear of the guide elements. The thread finally passes about a roller 11 and guide roller 12, the roller 11 rotating with a lower peripheral speed than the roller 7 to produce a drawing effect. The guide piece 16 may be straight or have a curved edge e.g. sinusoidal, see Fig. 4 not shown, to give the desired proportionality of the reciprocations involved.
