Abstract

948,537. Lappets for textile spinning &c. machines. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Dec. 7, 1962 [Dec. 7, 1961], No. 43891/61. Heading D1D. A lappet assembly for a textile spinning machine comprises a shaft 11 which extends along the side of the machine with a plurality of lappets mounted thereon at spaced intervals, each lappet comprising a plastic body member 13 rotatably mounted on the shaft 11 by means of a bifurcated portion, the branches 15, 16 of which act as journal bearings. A wire rod 14 which terminates in an eye portion adapted to act as a thread guide extends from the body member and is secured thereto in a recess 21 and slot 22 by means of a screw 24 and clamp plate (not shown). A collar member 17 having two abutment surfaces is fixed to the shaft 11 between the branches 15, 16 of the body member 13, the two abutment surfaces acting respectively to support the lappet in a horizontal operative position or in a raised inoperative position. Alternatively by rotation of the shaft 11 the entire set of lappets in contact with the former of the two abutment surfaces may be raised simultaneously to the inoperative position. The slot on the underside of the member 13 may be widened (Fig. 4 not shown) to allow for lateral adjustment of the wire rod 14 while the portion surrounding the screw 24 is dimensioned to allow for adjustment towards or away from the shaft 11.
