Abstract

1,163,721. Lubrication control in traverse mechanisms. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 28 Dec., 1966 [5 Jan., 1966], No. 504/66. Heading D1J. A traverse mechanism of the kind having a rotating cam drum 1 and a combined cam follower 5 and yarn guide 6 constrained by engagement with a stationary rail to reciprocate in a linear direction has a reservoir 7 for lubricant disposed within the cam drum along the rotational axis 3 of the drum. An outlet port 10 for the reservoir is in axial alignment with an annular collecting groove 11 which is connected by two passages 12 with the base of the cam groove 2. The reservoir is preferably filled with an absorbent packing material, e.g. felt. An annular sealing member 9 forms a seal between a stationary supply pipe 8 and the rotating reservoir. A metering device may be included in pipe 8.
