Abstract

1,103,018. Drying and conditioning grain. P. WESTERBY. 4 Nov., 1966 [9 Nov., 1965], No. 49612/66. Heading A2Q. [Also in Division F4] A bed of grain 1, e.g. retained between partitions 2 on a floor 3, is dried and thus conditioned by air issuing from a plurality of oblique side openings 9 in one or more ducts 4. The drying air is passed through the grain in the direction in which it is subsequently discharged through end channels 13, controlled by sliding gates 14, into a trough 11, provided with conveying means 12. An electrically driven fan 7 supplies air, through a header 5, to the ducts 4. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the air supply to the ducts and discharge of the grain from the spaces between them is effected from the centre of the ducts. Various portable forms of ducts are described.
