Abstract
1321324 Heat treating strip AIR INDUSTRIE 5 Aug 1971 [10 Aug 1970] 36758/71 Heading C7N [Also in Divisions D1 and F4] Strip material is subjected to gaseous treatment, e.g. drying, as it passes in direct xx, e. g. horizontally or vertically, through a treatment zone formed between blower walls 4 (shown on one side only) from which treatment gas is blown through a series of gaps 6 of inlet aperture 7, each group 6 including smaller blower apertures 5 which lie on the boundary L and along lines M dividing the group 6, the treatment gas flowing away through outlets 8 between the groups 6. The total area of outlet apertures exceeds that of the inlet and blower apertures. The boundary L is a parallelogram having their long sides perpendicular to XX and short sides and dividing lines M at an angle α of 45 degrees or less to XX. The lines M are offset in successive groups and are inclined in the opposite sense in a further treatment zone. The blower walls 4 are part of casings 3 through which pass the outlet apertures 8 in the form of slots (as shown) or pipes, Fig.2 (not shown). Alternatively, Fig.1 (not shown) there may be a separate chamber 3 for each group 6 of apertures so that the spaces between them form the outlet apertures 8.
