946,195. Ventilation. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. May 21, 1962 [May 19, 1961], No. 19558/62. Heading F4V. In a ventilation system for an enclosure, for example a lecture or work room, a factory workshop or an animal shed, the ceiling 4 of the enclosure has a row or rows of air inlet openings 5 extending across its width and below each row is mounted a horizontal baffle plate 6, spaced webs dividing the gap between the ceiling and plate into a number of air ducts having exit openings 7. The air flow through each of the slot-like duct openings 7 which has a smaller cross-sectional area than the associated opening 5 is controlled by respective flaps 8. Air exits are provided in the lower portion of a wall of the enclosure and extraction fans connected to the air exit openings draw in fresh air through the openings 5 whereupon the baffles 6 direct it across the ceiling through the openings 7. A single row of openings 5 may be provided adjacent one wall in which the extraction fans are fitted. Alternatively, for enclosures of greater length, two rows of openings arranged continuously or in staggered relationship may be used. In a further modification, Fig. 7, rows of openings 21 . . . 32 are situated adjacent opposite walls, extraction fans 33 . . . 36 being provided in these walls.
