Abstract

1,045,951. Ventilators. TITUS MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. March 21, 1964 [April 9, 1963], No. 8758/64. Heading F4V. A slot diffuser has its slot formed between inwardly directed lips of the side walls of the air channel leading to the slot and one or two pivotable vanes direct air against one or both of the lips. As illustrated, a double slot diffuser has lips formed as flanges 13, 14, 16, 17 on walls 6, 7, 8 and vanes 27 and 28 are pivoted and held frictionally in members 22 extending longitudinally of the diffuser. The vanes may be adjusted as shown to give a vertical or horizontal air flow. Members 19 and 20 assist in flush mounting the diffuser in a ceiling. In a modified diffuser, Fig. 6 (not shown), the side walls of the air channel are concave and each channel has a single vane whose movement is limited by shoulders 74 on the channel walls. Plates 59 mounted in grooves in extension of the side walls of the diffuser assist in mounting. In a further construction, Fig. 9 (not shown), a single vane is used in a parallel-sided diffuser channel. Channels 53 in the Figs. 6 and 9 constructions assist in mounting the diffuser on a ventilating duct. Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown). The Figs. 6 and 9 constructions may employ a second vane in each channel and the Fig. 4 construction may use only a single vane.
