Abstract

1,045,132. Ventilators. BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD. Dec. 3, 1964 [Jan. 8, 1964], No. 952/64. Heading F4V. A rectangular air inlet louvre, for a railway locomotive or other rolling stock, comprises a plurality of parallel, spaced-apart, upright slats 2, each having a horizontal section comprising a Z shape with extensions 12 (see Fig. 2, not shown), arranged to prevent ingress of water. Any water entering the air inlet is caught by the angles in the slots and drains through holes 6 into a trough 7 and drain pipe 8. A gutter 4 surrounds the air inlet. The slats may be metal or plastic and may have curled, beaded or wired edges.
