Abstract
530,178. Ventilating rooms and other enclosures. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and SAINTY, C. L. June 20, 1939, No. 17933. [Class 137] [Also in Group II] Two kinds of air or other gases are mixed, especially for use in ventilation, by supplying air at high speed through a number of flat nozzles 1 so as to produce a series of high .speed flat streams. The nozzles form a series of prism shaped cavities each having a sloping floor 2, the reduction in pressure in these cavities drawing in air past rounded walls 3 to mix with the air from the nozzles. The nozzle assembly is mounted on a box 7 connected to an air supply duct by an elbow duct 15. The reduction in pressure between the nozzles 3 draws in air from the room through louvres 17, and the mixture of fresh and re-circulated air is driven up trunking 22, and issues in an horizontal stream through outlet 18 at ceiling level. The outlet may be controlled by adjustable louvres as described in Specification 493,653. The volume of air delivered may be controlled by a thermostat or hygrostat.
